It always puts a smile on the faces of staff at Vaka Tautua when visitors, service
users and families pop in to visit. Last week 88 year old Metua Teriitanoa visited
Vaka Tautua’s head office and met with DIAS coordinator, Tina Carl-Mataiti.
Teriitanoa, a strong woman who has undergone 2 hip replacements was confined
to a wheelchair and bed-ridden for many months. That didn’t stop her from visiting however and it didn’t stop her from joining in on Vaka Tautua’s first Cook Island Older People’s Daycare Program for 2015.
“I was really happy seeing all my friends again and I’m really looking forward to all the program’s we’ll be having this year.” Says Mrs Teriitanoa.
“One of the many things I appreciate of the group is their support given to the bereaved families of three of our members who have passed away in past weeks.”
“I’m also grateful for the health service in giving me mobility equipment. It’s helped me to get back on my feet!”
Teriitanoa is one of many older people who join in on the fun at the Cook Island Older People’s Daycare Program. Feel free to head along and see what all the fuss is about!
