Mrs Terry Laban is of Samoan descent. She has a physical and sensory disability and is also living with mental illness.
Christchurch Team Leader and DIAS Coordinator Kaiongo Tupou has assisted Mrs Laban in getting multiple support services from different service providers and community networks in her area.
Through his hard work he has connected Mrs Laban to Com Care Trust, a non profit charitable trust that supports youth and adults with intellectual disabilities in Otago and Southland. Com Care Trust now provide Mrs Laban with weekly community support services. He has also enabled Mrs Laban to receive support from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Kaiongo also helped Mrs Laban's caregiver by connecting her to education seminars run by Alzheimer Canterbury.
This is one of many success stories from our staff in Christchurch but we also offer these services nationwide. To learn more about our Disability Information Advice and Support Services click on the link above.
