On September the 10th Mangere East’s Metro Community Hall came alive as Vaka Tautua’s Cook Islands Older Peoples’ group celebrated ‘Papa’s Day’. In true Cook Island style, the mama’s honored our Papas filling the hall with song dance and food!

The Chairman of the Group Mrs Ngametua Poko and CEO of Vaka Tautua Vui Mark Gosche welcomed the packed hall and gave thanks for our wonderful Papas who lead our Pacific communities an both small and big ways everyday. With special performances and Zumba by the Mama’s, our Papas were entertained and celebrated- they even had Vui up on his feet dancing to the Cook Island beat!

Disability Information and Advisory Services Co-ordinator, Tina Mataiti says; “It was a great day for all who attended as we got to celebrate our Papa’s and the contributions they have made to our lives. Our Cook Island Older Peoples Group really thrived off seeing Vui dancing and taking part too!”
