“Supporting the malaga of Pasifika with disabilities.” That was the theme of this years ‘Pacific Together’ event, held at the Alan Brewster Leisure Centre on Tuesday 3 December.

‘Pacific Together’ hosted by Vaka Tautua brought together Pacific people living with disabilities, service providers, health sector officials as well as family and friends to celebrate the journey that those with disabilities have travelled and their aspirations in life.

“Whilst it’s really important that we acknowledge their disabilities, it’s also really important we normalise the prejudice and minimise the stigmitisation that comes with having a disability. Says Vaka Tautua Chief Executive, Vui Mark Gosche.

“In doing so, ‘Pacific Together’ was a great opportunity to promote and grow understanding of disability issues

“People came and listened to our keynote speakers, they danced, rejoiced and ate to their hearts content. It was a great celebration!

Thank you to the ASB Community Trust for their sponsorship of this event and for their continuous support.
