Vaka Tautua is a national “by Pacific for Pacific” health and social service provider.

We were established in 2007 by the PIASS and Malologa Trusts and remain a not-for-profit limited liability company registered with the Charities Commission.

We currently hold certification from the DAA Group against Standard NZS 8134:2008 Health and Disability Services, and we hold Level Two Status as a provider for the Ministry of Social Development.

The Team at Vaka Tautua

We take pride in our team who are committed and passionate about our vision. They provide a mix of culture, gender and vast field experience to the needs of our service users. All team members are fluent communicators in their national language, and are respectful of different cultural practises and protocols within the pacific.

Our Board of Directors is comprised of consumers and professionals in their fields. Vaka Tautua utilises their skills and expertise to ensure that the services we provide are in line with the Vaka Tautua vision and objectives.

DIAS Team (Disability Information Advice and Support Services)

​The DIAS Team is made up of Pacific community leaders who either have a disability, or who know / have a loved one living with a disability.



​Mental Health Community Support Team​

Our Mental Health Team are all community leaders who are passionate about working with Pacific people who experience mental illness.



​Mental Health Peer Support Team

​Our Peer Support Team aim to enhance the recovery of service users in the community by pairing them up with Peer Support staff who have experienced mental illness and recovery.



Mental Health Navigation Team

The Vaka Tautua Pacific Mental Health Navigators are based primarily at the Porirua office. All team members come from backgrounds with relevant or lived experience in the health or community support sector, and are familiar with the support services available that assist service users to reach their self-determined goals for wellness.


Older Persons Support Team

The Older Persons Support team is comprised of Pacific community leaders who run healthy living/healthy action programmes in the community for our older persons.
