The Regional Manager is part of Vaka Tautua’s leadership and management team, responsible for leading the organisation’s mission of promoting and advancing the health and wellbeing of Pacific peoples in the Wellington region. This involves operational management, staff management, service development and delivery and stakeholder engagement.

The Regional Manager will work with the Chief Executive Officer and wider management team to develop and implement the organisation’s strategic plan. This involves seeking and leveraging opportunities to grow the business in the Wellington region that are consistent with the strategic plan, enhancing the organisation’s offerings. Contributing to, and implementing the Clinical Governance Framework and Professional Development Strategy is also key.

Demonstrating exceptional leadership skills, the Regional Manager will, in partnership with Team Leader(s), develop and manage an annual regional work programme that seeks to achieve contracted outputs, staff management plans and Vaka Tautua’s vision.

The Regional Manager will oversee contract negotiations (alongside relevant managers), manage budgets, oversee recruitment and the day-to-day operations of Vaka Tautua within the Wellington region, in accordance with delegated authorities and relevant policies. This role will also ensure staff deliver services that are culturally relevant, of high quality, and within the specified timeframes determined with funders. Staff performance and development are also key responsibilities.

Key professional and personal specifications include:

  • exceptional leadership skills;

  • exceptional relationship management skills;

  • budgeting, financial management contract negotiation and reporting;

  • strong management skills; and

  • a tertiary qualification in business management, health management, social work or an equivalent qualification.
