Alex Va’afuti

Samoan

Alex Va’afuti is a Peer Support Worker in our Ola Fiafia Mental Health team in Auckland.

Alex came to Vaka Tautua in January 2023 after working for more than twelve years in operations, health and safety, and staff supervision at the Pikes Point Transfer Station.

He is proudly Samoan and is keen to use his own lived experience to help Pacific people who are struggling with mental health challenges.

When not at work, Alex likes to spend time with his son and family, write poetry, go to church, and catch up on sleep. He enjoys going for a drive to see wherever the road leads him.

“Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.”
