Tagata Sa'ilimalo

Disability Services

Tagata Sa'ilimalo is our range of services for Pacific disabled people, their families and carers.

We support our tagata sa’ilimalo to participate fully in society.

‘Tagata Sa’ilimalo’ is a movement developed by the Tōfā Mamao Collective. It is both a vision and, when in lower case, an identity. It comes from the Samoan ‘tagata’ (person or people) and ‘sa’ilimalo’ (pursuit of success) and can be singular or plural. We use it in place of ‘Pacific disabled people, their families, and carers’ and when referring to the Pacific disabled community in Aotearoa.

Tōfā Mamao is a grassroots collective of tagata sa’ilimalo and is one of Vaka Tautua’s key partners. Together, we aim to promote the Tagata Sa’ilimalo vision, and the uniquely Pacific world view of collectivism through local partnership and national collaboration.
