Mele Mafi is a Community Support Worker for our Ola Fiafia team in Auckland. Mele hails from the villages of Talihau, Vava’u and Kolomotu’a, Tongatapu, but was born and raised in Mangere.

Mele joined Vaka Tautua in November 2021, coming from a previous role as a Support Worker. She is the first in her family to obtain a degree, graduating from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Theology & Religious Studies and Pacific Studies.

In her spare time, Mele plays guitar and has volunteered for the City Mission. She knows firsthand the challenges many of our Pacific youth face, having cared for her grandmother and worked part-time while completing her studies. Mele is looking forward to supporting our young Pacific people with their mental wellbeing.
